Waffles

This morning, G and I made homemade waffles in our George Foreman grill that mamaw gave us for Christmas. We use the George Foreman all the time, but we've never used the waffle plate. It was really easy, and I had so much extra that I cut them in half and froze them for a quick weekday breakfast. Much to my protest, he insisted on having two big waffles all to himself. Needless to say, he didn't eat it all, but he said they were delicious.

I don't know why the slideshow is cutting him off in the first photo. I really took a much better pic than that! :)

Easter Eggs, Take I and II

We decorated Easter Eggs this weekend. It was a challenge to keep the three year old boy at bay while trying to take pics, so notice there are just before and after, and no during. We even took his shirt off because the dye was getting everywhere. After breaking three or four on the first day, we made more the second day. He had a blast and can't wait to "throw them out in the yard for the Easter bunny."

Art Class

Today G and I had our first Art Class with Miss Anita. I was really impressed, and G had so much fun! We are both going to learn so much about art, and since it's really something that I've always loved and have a somewhat small background in, I think I will enjoy it that much more.

Today we made a craft - a frog out of a paper plate and painted with tempura paint.

Then today's artist was Piet Mondrian. She spoke about vertical and horizontal in talking about his black lines as well as the primary colors that he used.

I also learned that G can use scissors. He cut out the hot air balloon all by himself and did a great job! I have to admit I took away the scissors months ago when he cut a large hole in his pants and I haven't even given the scissors a second thought. My goal is to let him make all of the projects himself, and I say that only because I noticed the mom next to me doing her son's entire project. Of course it looked perfect, but it wasn't his. Anyway, I wasn't tempted, but I want to make a point not to and let him learn.

We can't wait for next week. I hear that Jackson Pollack is everyone's favorite, and I know why. :) Splash, splash. Not sure if and when we will learn about him this 6 week session.

Bonkers!

I took G to a place called Bonkers last night. It's so hard to explain, so I posted a pic. It's a two story warehouse where they built these play things made of parachute straps that you can climb on and inside are slides, bridges, and other fun things, etc.

The first time I took him he was only 15 mo. old and needed a lot of help to get around. That is my speed in this thing. Now he can run through it in a matter of seconds. Next time we need to invite a friend to go with him because mommy is not fast enough. Now he never complained, mind you, but he just kept saying, "Come on, mom." "I'm waiting for you mom." The height of the openings is such that he can just run through it, but I am on my hands and knees crawling the entire time. Not ideal for work clothes or jeans. Anyway, we were crawling over a bridge where these soft pylons were hitting us in the face, and G turned around in the middle of the bridge and said, "I love you mom!" And then just kept running. Too cute! Great bonding time, I guess. ;)

Alligators All Around

This was one of my favorite songs from school that Ms. Isch taught me. Now G is learning it, and we are having fun! Here it is for you to watch.

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

G and I went to the local pumpkin patch today. We have gone every year since he was born. This year he really had a blast. We took a hayride and rode on a mini tractor barrel ride. They had bounce houses, lots of animals, hay mazes, painted cut-outs, kettle corn, and pumpkins of course! We spent over three hours there, but we had to leave because it was starting to get dark. We can come back again before Halloween though. It's a really great place, and it's basically free!

G is 3!

So after all of the parties, presents, and soccer games my little boy is finally three years old. We had a quiet night with my sister (meme), another couple and their nineteen month old (E). It was a nice evening. I cooked a fancy dinner and what three year old dinner couldn't be complete without sangria! G had a great day and was pooped. Patches the cat has taken to love G and sleeps with him most nights. They are quite a pair. So sweet!

Budding Photographer?

G wanted to take a pic of mommy. I had to help him push the button because the camera is wider than his little hands, but he aimed it. I thought he did a good job! Maybe he will take after his Aunt Megan and Aunt Kelly.

Here are a few random pics of G in his boots (of course!) and his cute frog overalls putting puzzles together. He didn't feel like getting his picture taken that day. He kept running away. Oh well!

That night we saw Kung Fu Panda again at the dollar movies and had ice cream. That was our little treat while daddy was out of town during the weekend.

"We're Going to the Forest!"

Griffin grabbed my hand last night and drug me into the bedroom. "Momma we're going to the forest. I've got my hat, my gwubs [gloves] and my coat."

Wow. What an imagination. I turned on the light to the bedroom and he put a stop to that.

"No, momma." "I'm going to the forest, there's monkeys and alligators. Let's go look at them." So we crawled to the edge of the bed and looked under the bed and talked about everything that we could see. We could also see cats (our pet cat, Jazzi.) He also had to give me my hat, gloves and coat so I could come to the jungle. Then he had to go potty, so he pretended to unbutton his coat and take off his hat so he could go, then he had to pretend to put it all back on when he was done. This exploring stuff is hard work.

I thought it was so hilariously cute that I had to call mom so he could tell her. He told her all about it. We were cracking up. What a cutie.

Cactus legs and large snacks

We just returned from Sea World San Antonio, and we had a blast. My mom (mamaw), my sister (meme), G and I left on Tuesday and got back Thursday afternoon. Thanks to Meme for being our paparazzi for the week and sorry to say that she was only in a few photos! She did a fantastic job though. The photos are beautiful. I'll post a slideshow of all of the photos later.

G couldn't get enough of the "amimals." We were there from park open to close, and he was such a good boy. You can tell by his expressions that he loved seeing Shamu, alligators, sea lions, feeding fish to the dolphins, sharks, tropical fish, etc.

A few funnies from the trip. We showed him cactus outside of McD's and later he touched mamaw's legs. She asked him what it felt like and he said, "Cactus!"

A new thing on the trip is that when he's really hungry and he doesn't think we are going to eat any time soon he's decided that he wants a "large snack."

I have a little adventurer on my hands. We went on the log ride, which was the only ride he could go on as long as he was with an adult. He absolutely loved it! He didn't want to go through the "river" as that wasn't enough of a thrill. He kept asking to go up high. As soon as we went down our final drop he knew the ride was over, and he didn't want to get out. He was begging to stay on and go again. I guess daddy will have a partner to ride rollercoasters when he's tall enough.

We stayed near the Riverwalk, so Mamaw and Meme were able to see the Riverwalk and we took the boat tour. The tour was ok, but G would rather jump in than just watch it from a boat.

If only I could swim with Shamu...

G's the one under the hat!

Preparing for his big ride.

I never thought I'd pick up a dead fish especially since I thought nothing of it at the time. I guess you'll do anything for your child. :)

Me and my sweet boy.

So crazy.

Sprinklers!

It was such a beautiful weekend, I thought that it was time to break out the sprinkler. He doesn't remember the sprinkler we bought him from last year, but boy did he have a blast this time! It was 1.5 hours of blissful entertainment. We invited over our neighbor, Rosa, for some fun. They had a great time playing together.
