Who knew Elvis liked to play in the sand?

G has re-found his Elvis costume. We are back to sleeping, playing, etc. in it. I don't mind since he will outgrow it someday, and my mom worked hard to make it. So here we are on a bright sunny day playing in his sandbox.

Boxes and Trains

We're talking mom to mom here: Boxes are better than toys. Can I get an Amen? So why does he have lots of toys and no boxes? G spent the week playing with this box. He couldn't get enough.

I've also included pics of his train set that he got for Christmas, but we found a train table several months ago and have it all set up.

Watch it wiggle

We've been in the mood for jell-o lately. So G and I have been making jigglers. So fun. We were "creative" the first time because I only had seasonal cookie cutters, so we made astronauts out of gingerbread men and then stars for a space theme. Then we bought hearts for Valentine's Day. A pan a jigglers never makes it back into the refrigerator after we cut them out. We devour them all!

DVD Recommendation

Daddy bought G the best DVD collection for Christmas. It's called the Scholastic Treasury of 100 Storybook Classics, plus the Treasure of 20 Storybook Classics that also came with it. It is utterly amazing. It takes the classic storybooks, we are talking about Caldecott Award winners, that we loved as kids and animates them using the original illustrations, and it's NOT cheesy. Beautifully illustrated stories like Where the Wild Things Are, Harry the Dirty Dog, Alligators All Around, Chrysanthemum, etc. come to life, and they are told and sung by Academy/Grammy Award Winning Actors/Singers. B and I were pleasantly surprised. Of course this does not take the place of the real book, but it makes you want to get the real book or hey, even go to the library and read the real book.

And how B found this collection is that he follows several deal websites and found this for more than half price plus a 20 bonus DVD set as well. WOW.

My ar-teest!

G's friend, Kelsey, sent him a kid's digital camera for his birthday. What a great gift! He's had the best time taking pictures. He's very imaginative. Yeah, that's a great way to describe it. The camera is waterproof and very indestructible. It even has two viewfinders so he can look out of two holes instead of one.

Ok, I'll admit that most of the 55 pictures he's taken so far were all black or white or blurry, but he's not even 3. :) Here are 10 presentable pics. I just think it's funny. Most are of bits of furniture or doors. Hey Mimi, maybe you can get inspiration for your photo classes from G. I'm sure your professor would love these!! Ha!

Books

My Aunt Nene and Uncle Don are artists, retired and totally into what's new and hip at the bookstore. They recently gave G a couple of books for a late, late Christmas 2007 present (long story). He LOVES them. He can already "read" the bear book to me verbatim, granted there aren't that many words. I thought I would share since other mommies read this blog. They are "Llama Llama Mad at Mama" and "Maybe a Bear Ate It." I really like the Llama book and apparently this is a series, so he's asked for the Llama Llama Red Pajama book for Christmas from Aunt Nene.

G's favorite things

I got this idea from a friend. It's a good idea.

1) Tractors! He's starting to learn the different kinds and will point them out to me from two miles away. "There's an excavator tractor!" "There's a forklift" "He has a front end loader." Really, this kid is obsessed!
2) Food (he's had a ferocious appetite lately!) He isn't a very picky eater, but would eat applesauce and strawberry yogurt all day if I'd let him.
3) He loves The Incredibles movie. And it's a good thing that I like it too!
4) He loves to ride his tractor outside - all of the time, day or night. I just realized that he can ride his big wheel, so he's been riding that as well.
