After daddy and I have been working with him off and on for several weeks, he finally got it! G finally knows my cell phone number! In Dallas we have to know the area code as well, which makes for a really long number to memorize, but he knows the entire thing, and on Saturday night he and I worked on our address and city. So in case he ever gets separated from us he knows his entire name, my name, my cell number and our address and city. Now will he tell someone this and remember this under pressure? We shall see... :) Sometimes we call him a silly name and he's started calling himself his silly name, I just hope he doesn't tell someone that. Well, enough of that. I just hope he never gets lost!!

G is so smart! You all have taught him so well! I'm surprised that Brad hasn't found a way to attach a GPS to him!
How do you teach him these things? Do you put them to a song/rhyme, or just go w/ rote?
Just in passing at random times we say, "What's mommy's phone number?" Then we make the number kind of sing-songy. He now says it back in that same sing-song fashion. We never really pushed it. We'd just always ask the number and say it back in front of him. Then last week he started saying the same number over and over 222.222.2222 in the sing-song pattern. So I knew he was getting it and listening. The address was much easier for some reason.
Don't tell him about the GPS or he would!!
Give that boy a cookie! He is a genius!!!! xoxo
Very cool for a three year old!
One think I learned when teaching DD PreK is if you can sing it, they can learn it! Never mind that I can't hold a tune, poor kids.
Another reason why I'm better suited to middle school...
